## About the role

Guildford Borough Council is expanding its Countryside Team, which manages more than 800 hectares of chalk downland, heathland, woodland, local nature reserves, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and urban green space.

The Senior Countryside Warden will carry out countryside operations, manage contractors, work with community groups and help shape three newly opened sites. Practical tasks include habitat management, scrub clearance, tree felling, coppicing, fencing and other conservation work.

## What the Council is looking for

- Experience working in the countryside and managing habitats.
- Practical conservation and estate-management skills.
- The ability to work independently and communicate with volunteers, partners and contractors.
- A National Certificate in Countryside Management or equivalent experience.
- A driving licence and the physical fitness needed for outdoor work.
