Today the UK Government announced the next step in their plan to ‘flatten the curve’ of the growing Coronavirus COVID19 pandemic gripping the UK and most countries across the world.
All schools, colleges, sixth forms, and nurseries in Surrey, as well as across the country, will be closed at the end of the school day on Friday.
Schools will close except for looking after the children of key workers, such as those in the NHS, and children who are the most vulnerable. The UK Government will be announcing more on this in the coming days.
As part of these closures, this academic year’s exams will not go ahead across England, and the PM Boris Johnson has said that the Government will ensure that those sitting their GCSEs and A-Levels will get the exams and qualifications they need. Details on this will be announced at a later date.
