Be Me Project support young people in secondary schools to build self esteem, confidence and positivity to improve their mental wellbeing.
Be Me Project is a grassroots charity dedicated to developing positive mental wellbeing and supporting vulnerable individuals in our communities who are experiencing low self-esteem, anxiety or lack of confidence. The charity’s Head Office is in Central Dorking where we started in 2014.
For young people in Surrey, our services are mainly delivered in secondary schools throughout Dorking, Leatherhead, Reigate, Redhill, Bookham, Epsom and Banstead.
The main beneficiaries are aged 11-15 years, and to date have been primarily girls, although we now service approximately 20% boys, and are growing this provision.
For women in the community, we receive referrals from Dorking GP surgeries/social prescribing teams, hostels and work in partnership with a range of local organisations.
Our bespoke activity and discussion-based courses have a proven positive track record in raising self- esteem and confidence, building resilience and lowering anxiety. Our work is based around small group discussion-based courses and 1-2-1 mentoring, addressing specific themes to directly improve mental and emotional wellbeing. Be Me Project creates a safe place for beneficiaries to be able to talk freely and discover more positive ways to cope with life and to believe in themselves, looking at 3 core topics: ‘identity, truth and purpose’.
