For the past 70 years the L&DLHS, a registered charity, has recorded and worked to protect the heritage of the local district. Working entirely through volunteers, it owns and manages the Museum, holds monthly lectures and events, and researches and produces publications including a quarterly Newsletter, annual Proceedings and a series of local history books. Meetings are normally held at the Letherhead Institute or occasionally at other sites of historical interest. It has very extensive archives of articles, maps and photographs of the area and a library of local history for use by members.
Museum is open Thursdays and Fridays 1pm-4pm and Saturdays 10am-4pm from April to December. Monthly lectures are held the third Friday of each month between September and May, starting with coffee at 7.30pm. Special events at other times.
